Beautiful Plants For Your Interior

Watering is the number one area where new plant parents struggle. A strict watering schedule (like “every Sunday”) rarely works because a plant’s thirst changes based on the season, humidity, and room temperature.
The “Finger Test” Method
Before you water, always check the soil. Stick your index finger about 2 inches into the dirt. If it feels moist, leave the plant alone. If it feels completely dry, it is time for a drink.
Plant Watering Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Likely Cause | Best Solution |
| Yellowing, mushy leaves at the base | Overwatering | Stop watering immediately. Let the soil dry out completely and check the drainage hole. |
| Crispy, brown leaf edges | Underwatering or low humidity | Soak the soil thoroughly. Consider misting the leaves or getting a small humidifier. |
| Tiny flies buzzing around the soil | Persistently wet topsoil (Fungus Gnats) | Try “bottom-watering” to keep the top layer of soil dry, which prevents gnats from laying eggs. |
Always ensure your plant pots have drainage holes at the bottom. Sitting in a puddle of water will cause root rot, which is fatal to most houseplants.
